About

Care, collaboration, and support

Hi there! I'm Laura, and I’m here to support you through whatever life’s throwing your way. Whether you’re navigating grief, loss, life adjustments, anxiety, depression, or attachment challenges, I believe you’re the expert on your own life. My approach is informal and collaborative, working together to create a space where you can explore, heal, and grow. Using tools from Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems, we’ll work through things at your pace, helping you find balance and strength along the way. I love music, movies, books, and often incorporate those forms of expression into sessions. Frequently Asked Questions: Why are you a therapist? Simply put, therapy helped me when I was a teen struggling with depression, a new mom dealing with life transitions, and as I was sent reeling from the deaths of family and friends. I love being able to help others express their emotions and come to a new level of self-acceptance. Plus, I think mental health is absolutely fascinating! What is your education and work experience? I have a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Gerontology from University of North Georgia. I have also earned a Certification in Grief Counseling and am working on an additional certification in Child & Adolescent Grief Counseling. I have worked with clients ages 4 and up in a community counseling clinic, and in local elementary and high schools as a school based therapist. I pride myself on being accepting, affirming, and culturally competent. Why don't you accept insurance? That's a good question! I choose not to accept insurance to prioritize the quality of care and flexibility in our work together. Insurance companies often place restrictions on the types of therapy and the number of sessions covered, which can limit how we approach your treatment. By not working with insurance, I can provide more personalized, client-centered care, and we can focus solely on what’s best for you, without the limitations of paperwork or pre-approvals. This also allows for greater privacy and control over your therapeutic journey. I do provide Superbills and sliding scale options are available depending on need. Fun Facts: I love comedy and improv and always dreamed of being on Saturday Night Live I live in a zoo- I have a dog, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, a ball python, and lots of saltwater fish. Sometimes the cats make an appearance in session. I will read anything and everything, especially non-fiction because I am a History and Politics nerd. I love music of all kinds and am always accepting suggestions
